Product Description

After the success at This Art Fair, you can now also buy individual prints from Paper Monument edition 24-25 via my webshop. This action is only available for individuals!

For institutions with a public function, the Paper Monument is available in various editions (each consisting of the full series of 60 portraits), which aim to broaden the debate on inclusivity as a conversational piece and to use this, in a sustainable way, in our public memory to be anchored. Please email info@himmelsbach for more information.
This project was realized without subsidy. The limited edition aims to cover the project’s production costs. Possible profit is put into funding the growth of this project, putting undocumented migrants on the agenda and possibly funding future subversive projects that are difficult to subsidize.

‘A Paper monument for the paperless’ limited edition: From street art to conversational piece and ambassador in culture-historical collections, institutes and museums.

Since 2013, the ‘Paper monument’ project has grown from community art workshops into an international street art campaign, as a poetic monument to generate visibility for refugees without identity papers (read more here and join in>)

‘A Paper monument for the paperless’ has the ambition to rise from its fleeting, activist street context and will be available in a sustainable deluxe limited edition.

There is a need for the story of the paperless to be included in our collective memory and is therefore on the lookout for institutional cooperation and inclusion in public art collections.
This way, the project can evolve from its ‘underground’ street life, with visibility in cities, to a respectable paper ambassador that continues to tell this story as a ‘conversational piece’ within museums, archives and other collections of cultural heritage.

Printed in a temporary print studio in the Amsterdam Museum.
The limited-edition is printed during a residency at the ‘Freethinkers: from Spinoza to now‘ exhibition from 5 September 2021 until the end of February 2022 in the Amsterdam Museum.
